Staying Hydrated and Healthy

While sitting at your desk for several hours a day, it can be hard to keep track of how hydrated you are. Most of us think about completing our day-to-day tasks and not so much about our water consumption throughout the day. We all know we’re supposed to drink an eight 8-ounce glass of water a day but doing so can be easier said than done! Luckily, there are simple steps you can take every day to make sure you are staying hydrated while working.

Be aware of dehydration symptoms

Symptoms of dehydration come in many forms, including fatigue, headaches, dry mouth, and dizziness.

Cut back on processed foods

Too much salt, sugar, and oil can speed up the rate of dehydration. Microwavable foods tend to have high amounts of salt and sugar as well. This is important to keep in mind when deciding what to eat at work.

Pick the right type of water

When picking the type of water you bring to work, try to avoid anything with added sugars or flavors. These types of additives can contribute to dehydration.

Don’t wait until you’re thirsty

The best way to beat dehydration is to continually drink water throughout the day. You can also keep fruit that is water rich such as strawberries or cantaloupe with you as a snack to help with staying hydrated.

We hope these tips were helpful to you. See you next time!
